Oppss. . .

As we all know OU lost to EMU on Saturday (major sad face right?). I think that Oakland had a few problems during the game.

Derick Nelson hardly made any free throws, definitely hurt the team in the long run.

The team depended on Jonathan Jones and Kieth Benson too much. Yes, the two are great players but they cannot do it all. Jones was everywhere he needed to be during the game, he even had a great steal towards the end. Benson had a good game as well but they needed more support on the court.

Blake Cushingberry surprised me during the game. He started off not playing well, he had turn overs and couldnt make simple shots, but came back to finish up better after the half. Im actually a little upset that Drew Maynord didnt play more then he did. He got the crowd and team really amped up when he dunked the ball on Eastern's Brandon Browdry. Hes a really skilled player.

We also saw freshman Ledrick Eackles and Drew Valentine in action this game. Im glad Kampe didnt red shirt Valentine. Valentine is a young player and has a lot to learn but he was able to get the team some points when they needed it. He and Eackles were able to help keep the Grizzlies head in the game and give some of the starters a quick break. :-)

UPDATE ON REDSHIRTS: I was actually right. Freshman Travis Badder recieved a red shirt as well as transfer Reggie Hamilton.

Tonight the team takes on Wisconson! Im sure that Junior Will Hudson is looking forward to this game againest his homes team. Lets hope the Grizzlies can snap a 11 game losing track againest BIG TEN SCHOOLS!

Saturday OU takes on Rochester College at home, 6pm in the O'Rena!

Good Luck Fellas!

  2. No mention on how god awful Larry Wright played? This guy is supposed to fill the shoes of Kangas and perhaps be even better, but he didn't do anything. He was even worse against Wisconsin last night

  4. Larry Wright needs to step up, but I think he will. He hasn't played in a real game in a year. It can take a couple games to adjust to it. Will Hudson needs to play the way he did at the end of last year for Oakland to come near the pre-season hype they received. I agree that Maynard deserves more time. He plays harder and with more energy than Cushinberry.

  5. You have to give Larry Wright some time to adjust. I was disappointed in Nelson. You have to make your free throws. But I disagree with you Jones and Benson can carry this team. They are that good.

  6. Against Wisconsin the same thing happened, with Oral Roberts winning last night against Stanford and IUPUI winning things are going to get interesting once Summit league play starts up December 5th.

  9. I hope they start winning. As a casual fan, I probably won't take the time to drive out for a game if they aren't playing well..
